The Lagoon of the South
Dakhla
Dakhla sits on a long sandy peninsula in the far south of Morocco, where the Sahara meets the Atlantic. Its sheltered lagoon is one of the world's best-known kitesurfing spots, and day trips lead to the White Dune and Dragon Island. Oyster farms on the lagoon supply the town's restaurants.
Trip highlights
- Kitesurfing on the lagoon, for beginners and experienced riders
- The White Dune, where the desert meets the lagoon
- Fresh oysters from the lagoon farms
Getting there
Dakhla has an airport with direct flights from Casablanca (about 2 hours). By road it is roughly 1,200 km south of Agadir. Our Dakhla trip departs from Casablanca.
Good to know
Evenings are windy and cool even in summer: bring a windproof layer, and sunscreen for the lagoon.
